My nightstand has been in major need of a makeover for a while now. It has been ignored big time for far too long. When I had the opportunity to take a trip to World Market and do a little shopping, I was sure to take the opportunity and get a few things for my nightstand. I was really excited to see their new collection from the Life of Pi movie. Have you seen the trailers for this movie or have you read the book? I have heard amazing things about the book and the movie looks really interesting. It is about an Indian boy named Pi who is a zookeepers son. He survives a disaster at sea and is thrown into an epic journey. While he is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he forms a deep connection with a Bengal tiger. The movie is already in theaters. I would love to hear if any of you have already seen it or have read the book. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can watch it here.
First of all, I can’t get over how beautiful the display is of all of the Life of Pi items that they have. Everything is so bright and vibrant. It is fun to use brighter colors in my house to make it a more fun and cheerful environment. The yellow, blue, red, bronze, and gold colors were really awesome to see together in their display. There were a lot of items that I loved. I decided to give 3 of them a new home.
I got a lamp from the World Market line inspired by India, a gorgeous hand panted jewelry box from the Life of Pi collection, and a beautiful set of earrings from the Life of Pi collection to put in my new jewelry box! Now to see the decor in action…
Before: I had a huge problem. I only had one decorative piece on my nightstand period. My other huge problem was that I would always get in bed at night and take my hair out of a ponytail or take a few bobby pins out and there would be a constant pile of hair junk on my night stand, along with any other odds and ends that I found in my pocket that day. Lastly, the baby monitor is necessary, but super ugly. I didn’t have anything else to do with it but just let it become part of the “decor”.
After: First of all, it isn’t cluttered! Everything that was cluttering up the night stand is gone. There is a little added height to the decor that helps balance everything out and make it much more pleasing to the eye. I love the added color that the jewelry box brings too. I have been wanting to bring more pops of blue and green into my room so this is a great start!
A peek at where all of the junk that was cluttering up the table went. The hair stuff went in the top drawer so that it is easy to put them in at night. The baby monitor is still accessible, but now it is hiding behind the jewelry box! I love that you can’t see how ugly it is anymore. I also have quick access to some of my favorite pieces of jewelry that I find myself wearing more often than others, including my new Life of Pi earrings. I love how neutral they are, but they have great detail in them.
I love how it all turned out! I have noticed that a lot of decor in the stores is really inspired by India lately. I love the detail that those pieces have. I think it really adds to the space. World Market has TONS of pieces inspired by India, especially the Life of Pi collection. You have got to check out their stuff. They are also doing an awesome sweepstakes!
