There are a lot of different Christmas family traditions out there. Our family participates in several of them! But my favorite family tradition is probably the silliest of all of the traditions we participate in, the Christmas “Adam” Sock Dance Party!
What is a Sock Dance Party?
What exactly is a sock dance party? It is where we all get new pairs of socks, put Christmas lights on the ground, turn the lights off, and dance! We usually give each family member a turn to choose one or two songs that they want to dance to, so everyone is sure to get songs that they are excited about. There are no fancy dance moves, just being silly with the family!
Where to Buy Matching Christmas Socks
For the first few years, our Christmas socks would be mismatched. I would buy socks that each family member would like. That took a lot more work and the cost was more than I was hoping for. So, we have gotten our socks from the Target Bullseye’s Playground section for the past three years. It has been perfect because they are usually $1 each. I would assume the price will go up but it will still be cheaper than buying socks from the actual sock section. The other fun part about this is that they always have socks that match in both adult and kid sizes. The only catch is that they are universal adult and kid sizes, so the might be a little big (or small) on family members. It is still worth it for us and we’ve really enjoyed the Target $1 socks!
When to have a Christmas Sock Dance Party
You could have your Christmas sock dance party any time but we have loved keeping ours on the same day each year. It makes it so we are sure that it happens every year and it is something we can all look forward to. We have our sock dance party on Christmas “Adam” aka the day before Christmas Eve. We call it Christmas Adam as a joke because Adam came before Eve in the story of the Garden of Eden. Now, Christmas Adam is a full blown holiday in our house and we know that Christmas Adam means its dance party time!
It might not be a tradition for every family but it is a really fun one for our family! If you are looking for an inexpensive, simple family tradition for the Christmas season, give a sock dance party a try!
