It takes a lot to impress me when you’re an opening band. But that is exactly what Judah and the Lion did when they opened for Twenty One Pilots in early 2017! I had heard one song of theirs but as soon as I heard the rest of their set, I knew I needed to add them to my regular rotation. I absolutely love their style! The released a new album in 2019 called Pep Talks that really blew my mind. I knew it needed to be turned into an album cover makeup look!
Pep Talks is an album that covers a pretty difficult time in the lead singer’s life. While things were going well in his career, his personal life was falling apart. He realized he had the power to choose if he was going to sit around in sadness or move forward with a positive message. It TOTALLY hit me. It is something I strive for in my own small way on social media each day. Rather than sulking in the negativity, I can choose to share positive messages. That is why I love the album Pep Talks! It talks about some pretty heavy topics, but shares them in a positive way. Give it a listen! It is a really special album.
Judah and the Lion Makeup
The album cover for Pep Talks has a pep rally feel to it. It is a basketball court! The album merchandise is full of jerseys in traditional school colors… red, blue, and yellow. I knew I wanted to play off of the pep rally feel for my makeup look, while having some fun with the colors used in the album cover.
Something else I really wanted to bring to the look was a Joy Boy cape. It is based off of a song on the album and Judah wore one during their Pep Talks tour.

Album Cover Makeup Looks
Thank you for continuing to support my album cover makeup project. I know it isn’t something that everyone is interested in or cares to see each month, but it really is such an important creative outlet for me. I am able to continue to push myself creatively while sharing what music I am passionate about.
